Greenish-grey body, blue line on lower jaw, pale bar behind head and pectoral fin, sometimes short dark bars in series on back, round white patch below rear of dorsal fin, blue fin margins, and indistinct stripes on tail base. Lacks blue lines on face of similar Choerodon species. Sheltered and silty reef with macroalgae or seagrass nearby.
