Description

Males blue green with large obvious scales on body, a smooth head with a curving reddish line from corner of mouth widening behind eye, and a strongly lunate tail. Females/initial phase have red-brown/grey bodies with distinct large scales, irregular light bands on sides, and upper part of head yellowish. Endemic to Brazil where it is the second largest parrotfish species.
