RLSF ANNUAL REPORT 2023

Some of this year's highlights include:

  • RLS Data Workshop: Researchers and students gathered in Triabunna, Tasmania to workshop research publications using data collected by RLS divers over the years. RLS HQ were joined by international and local collaborators, as well as PhD students from the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Science at the University of Tasmania.
  • Public Education & Outreach: With funding from the Victorian Government's VicCoasts, RLS HQ and James Chong of RLS's Victorian diver network have worked toward expanding RLS training and educational outreach in Victoria. Surveys and training of new RLS volunteers were carried out in Port Phillip Bay, and information about the marine life in the bay was presented to local schools.
  • RLS Data Tools: New web tools have been developed to enhance the Reef Species of the World search platform, now featuring a search species by image function, customisable field guides, knowledge testing quizzes. The RSoW search is now available as a downloadable web app with offline accessibility.
