Description

Elongate, eel-like body with a long dorsal fin that is confluent with the caudal fin. Anteriorly, the dorsal fin exhibits a dark eyespot. Body length up to 18cm. Found among algae on rocky shores, or on hard bottoms to 55m depth. Mature males may be found guarding egg clumps.
