Distribution

Tropical Indo-Pacific


Description

Moderately-humped back and prominent skin tassels on underside of head. Very similar S. oxycephala (Smallscale Scorpionfish) has smaller scales, and S. venosa (Raggy Scorpionfish) may have large cirri above eyes.

Field identification difficult.
