Description
Blue-grey with large obvious scales, some blue markings on head and a slightly protruding mouth. Juveniles are similarly coloured to adults but have a yellowish patch on nape. Similar S. coelestinus (Midnight Parrotfish) has a large pale blue area on throat. Endemic to Brazil.
