Description
Endemic to New Zealand. Head and body mottled with reds, pinks and brown, series of dark patches below the lateral line creates 7 - 9 pale areas along lower body above the anal fin. Male similar but flushed with black, yellow belly. Distinguished from other triplefins by the continuous lateral line extending to the caudal peduncle.
