Tropical Indo-Pacific


Description

Grey body with seven or eight vertical dark brown bars, brown markings on face and a black ear-patch above pectoral fin base on gill cover. Tail fin, and rear of dorsal and anal fins with pale blue margin; juvenile with white stripe from snout to base of dorsal fin. Shy and secretive, disappearing into holes in the reef when approached. Length to 30 cm.
