Temperate Australasia, Tropical Indo-Pacific


Description

Orange-red carapace that is normally covered by encrusting growths of sponges, ascidians and hydroids. The claws are relatively slender, smooth towards the end, and have white tips. This crab is generally considered a tropical species, but it also occurs commonly on jetty pylons in the SA gulfs.
