Description

Males purplish with an orange lower head, chest and body, broad pale bands on rear of body and tail base, a blue-green spot behind eye, blue lines on lips, orange stripes on dorsal and anal fins and a blue-green tail fin. Females dusky with a dark purplish stripe from eye along mid-body containing four with blotches. Juveniles white with three black stripes along body. Endemic to Brazil.
