Distribution

Temperate Australasia, Tropical Indo-Pacific


Description

Female with yellow head gradating to an iridescent blue tail, thin iridescent blue lines along body, and small black spot at the rear of the dorsal and anal fin, often difficult to see. Juveniles and females join groups of mixed wrasses. Males very infrequently seen, and have wide blue stripes on the face and yellow/green body with dark edges and tail. Length to 24 cm.
